Last week saw the B and D teams in action. The B team were faced with a trip down the motorway to Maidenhead, the furthest outpost of the Thames Valley League.
Maidenhead seem to have a rather strange selection policy this season. Their top board is their second highest graded TV player, but prefers to play for the B team. They also fielded a strong and rapidly improving junior on second board, but their other four players were all graded below 110.
Regardless, we registered another comfortable win: I drew on board 1, Bertie drew on board 2, and the other games saw wins for Ian, Stuart and Huw, and a draw for Masoud. We’re already well on our way back to the choppier waters of Division 2.
The D team were not so lucky when the entertained a useful looking Kingston B team. They eventually succumbed 2-4, with Eamon and Omar scoring the wins.
