Those nice people at McFarland have just sent me a review copy of the softback edition of James Mason in America, by Joost van Winsen.

I’ll be reviewing it elsewhere in due course, but, to whet your appetite, here’s the conclusion of an offhand game between James Mason and Frederick Perrin, played in New York in 1873.
