I’m sure all our members will join me in wishing RTCC legend Michael Franklin all the best on the occasion of his 90th birthday.
While the name might not mean much to younger members, many of us will remember him very well and very fondly. Michael was one of the strongest English players of his generation, a loyal member of Richmond & Twickenham Chess Club up to his retirement ten years ago, and, even more importantly, always a perfect gentleman both at and away from the board.
Congratulations, Michael, on reaching the age of fourscore and ten, and best wishes from all of us to Jean and yourself.
Here’s an extensive article about Michael, with contributions from Ken and Dinah Norman.
