A couple of excellent results for our teams this weak, along with a couple of defeats.

Our Ellery Williams team scored their second 3½-½ win of the season at the Adelaide last Tuesday: an excellent result against a decent team.

At the same time our Thames Valley E team went down 3-1 to Hounslow C – but Division X is a non-competitive division where the enjoyment rather than the result is paramount.

Division 2 was always going to be very tough for our TVC team this season, and we went down to a predictably heavy defeat last Wednesday. Well done to George for sharing the point with a strong opponent.

On Thursday our TVA team also faced a tough challenge against Hammersmith but came away with an excellent draw. It could have been even better as Alastair missed a perpetual check in an exciting finale with both queens flying round the board.

An outstanding win for John against a very strong opponent, and I understand Gavin also won an excellent game. Great draws from Chris and Sampson as well. I’m hoping for further news and perhaps some games from this match later. Watch this space!
