After last week’s results it’s good to be able to report three wins from three matches this week.
Our Thames Valley B team welcomed Hounslow A to the Adelaide on Tuesday for their return encounter.

Another good result, and another excellent win from Raghu, who is in a rich vein of form at the moment. Matt won a brilliant game on Board 6, which you can play through here. Click on any move for a pop-up window.
Meanwhile, there were six empty boards in our other home match. Harrow A had tried to contact Mike shortly before the match to say that they were conceding as they only had two players, but were unable to get through.

This was a great pity, as we were offering debuts to Michael S (we do seem to have a lot of Michaels in our club at the moment) and Callie, as well as a return after several years for Mark.
On Wednesday, our Ellam Trophy (Surrey Division 3) team played their first match of the season away to Surbiton 2.

We outrated our opponents on every board but only managed a narrow victory, with time trouble playing its part. James, playing in his first match for the club, was better but blundered when short of time, and the same problem persuaded Alastair to agree a draw in an advantageous position. Well done to Chris and Sampson, who scored the key points for us.
As always, thanks to our captains, and to all who played in our matches this week.
