In addition to the club’s participation in the regional leagues, we offer a range of internal tournaments to provide extra opportunites for competitive games. We have all three types of play covered, Blitz, Rapid and Classical/Standard.

Blitz Championship

Three individual Blitz evenings with points awarded to the finishing positions in each. The Blitz Champion is the person with the highest total score across the three events.

Round 1: 17th September 2026 (Completed)

Round 2: 28th January 2027

Round 3: 20th or 27th May 2027

Rapid League

A league pyramid structure where round-robin Rapid (15+10) games are played. Each season runs from 1st October – 31st May.

Ladder

A rolling 12-month points system based upon the results from Classical/Standard chess games (65+10) against other members of the Ladder. At the end of August each year, the top 8 players in the Ladder are invited to compete in the Knockout section to determine an overall champion.

Summer Tournament

An annual Classical/Standard (65+10) 5-round Swiss tournament held every June – August. Entries for next years edition will open in May 2027.
